Is it a bad rub, i mean are you cutting into the sides of the tires, like making any scratches in them??? Do you have your fenders rolled?
Thats the size i plan on getting in like 2 weeks without the drop tho, springs will come in like 2 weeks.

okay, first off

ELANTRAVISION!!! DUNLOPS BLOW !!! THEY SUCK DONT GET THEM. Check in articles all their new tires have had belt shifting problems.

okay, so we got one saying he cut his springs (very bad idea) and it rubs on turns.

do have anyone who has lowered the car properly?
and put on 215/40/17 ?

If you have the Eibach Pro-kit you will not experience any rubbing with that size tire. Theoretically. I checked with the tuner wheel and tire shop here because I wanted 215s instead of 205s.

The rubbing is not bad and hardly happens

THIS IS OUR LIMIT

Im pretty sure if i put some 18's... ill rub like a MOFO

Ive only rubbed slightly from time to time

Trust me I understand, my elantra has 17's on it, with 205/40/r17 and I can hit a small bump in the road and it scrubs. My car is lowered real low. I wish I can get these damn pics downloaded of my car without the graphics and with the new rims on it, that way you can see how low my car is.

I am thinking about raising my car back up to the stock height and get some 18's and call it a day, it's cool to have your car lowered and everything, but it's a hassle

I have an '02 Elantra GLS, with Eibach ProKit installed, running on 215/45/17's. No real rubbing/scrubbing problems UNLESS carrying back-seat passengers AND agressive cornering. Fender lip is not rolled, and mentioned rubbing only on front tire, not rear.

I don't like the drastically low appearance. For me, and this is just my opinion; if the fender wall overhangs any amount of the rubber, then you've gone too low. The perfect setup is when the bottom of the fender and top of the rubber are flush when you're looking at the car from the side. I realize that may not provide the best cornering ability, but aesthetically speaking, its the most attractive.

Do the rims your running with have a 40mm offset, or no? I'm assuming they do since most 17's have that value for their offset.

Ive got 17's with 205/40's on and 15mm spacers behinds each wheel and i had to shave 2mm of the lip in the rear arches because i had a minute rub. Now all i get is a creak if i bottom out with people in the back but that should just be the springs settling in and that nice shiny paint wearing off.

Yes, 40 mm offset.

Also be aware that clearance is actually tightest at the lower spring perch of the strut. Very close there.
