QUOTE (javageek @ Oct 28 2007, 04:17 PM)
I really don't know if it is the sliders or not. I pulled the boots back and they were still lubed. However my calipers are rusted so bad that if I hit it with a hammer flakes go everywhere. Same thing with the rear rotors. I have new rotors, pads, and lines but want to make sure I get this fixed before I install them.

My calipers were rusted. I cleand it up with a wire brush and painted them blue. But even still, heat and driving with your e-brake on a couple of times can bend up the slides. Dirt and stuff can get in there too and cause binding.

I'm not a mechanic, but I know my problem is with something binding. The moving parts have rebuild kits for a reason. I just hope one of the kits can solve my problem.... cuz i'm not spending $500 on my rear brakes. Jiggling the e-brake has become part of my routine when I get in the car. My guides are very well lubed as well, but even still I'm much much much more willing to try both of the rebuild kits for the rear brakes then buy new calipers.

For those of you wondering the e-brake cables are the long ones in this pic http://hmaservice.com/GRAPHICS/y5/y58-033a.gif

The caliper guides are the two things on the left of the caliper comming from the bottom. There's two of them, one on bottom and one on top which you cannot see in this pic. http://hmaservice.com/GRAPHICS/v5/v5br033a2.gif

^^ J3: sure man. I guess.

it might be a dumb question but how does the caliper rebuild kit work?
my rear left caliper cylinder is seized and i'm looking into buying a new/refurbished caliper, but if rebuild kit is able to fix my cylinder i'd rather go that route first before dropping a couple hundred on a caliper...
