How hard is it to replace the struts in a 2000 Tib? I ordered the KYB struts for all 4 corners and want to try a do this myself. I have the stock struts in now with the Eibach Prokit springs. So I'll have to take the springs off the stock ones and put them on the KYB's. Do I need any special tools or people to help out smile.gif . I tried a seach but came up with nothing.

Thanks for any advice.

You need a spring compressor, but that's really the only special tool you need. An impact wrench helps, but it's not necessary. I think there is a DIY over at HP.

If you haven't already I would suggest new bearing plates as well, I didn't change mine and now you can't tell if I changed my shocks or not cuase it still looks @$$ ugly with the old bolts.

As for the install, it's pretty simple, you take off a bunch of bolts, and take the whole assembly out. Shocks and Springs. (I find it easier) And then remember how to put it back together. It's not hard. Just make sure to get an alignment done when your finished.

You could go to GoodYear or Sears to have them put them in if you have any trouble getting ahold of tools that you need.

I should be able to get ahold of a spring compressor at the mechanics down the road from me. And my dad has an impact wrench in his garage. So I should be set. laugh.gif

If not go to a Canadian Tire and just rent one. It's like $40.00 and you get it back as long as you return the tool.

I've had the Eibachs on the car for a couple of years now. After I installed them the ride performance was awesome. Can't wait to see what it's like after the KYB struts are installed. smile.gif

I'm putting in some eibach springs and kyb struts this weekend also, what do the bearing plates do, how much are they, and where can I get them?
