I'm not sure what is broken but some where in the area around the CV joint something is screwed. it doesn't click, it just sounds like a metal shaft clacking around, and it still makes the sound even when the wheel isn't turned. I bought a new boot cause i was hoping that was the problem, but there are no problems with the boot.

Sounds almost like a wheel bearing

I agree with Mad, sounds like a wheel bearing. I have the same type of sound happen sometimes. Usually just first thing in the morning whne the car just moves for the first time you hear a small clank. Doesnt happen all of the time tho.
