An offset is where the bolts are in relation to the middle of the rim.
0 offset would put the bolts in the exact middle of the rim. A +40 offset puts the bolts 40mm towards the front of the rim. Big V-8 drag cars run - negative offsets which gives them that "deep dish" look.

I believe the offsets can be +38 to +45
Hope I helped.

Random can tell you exactly.

Ok, here's a question,...
On 17x7's wheels, if the offset were 40mm, will it fill the well nicely?
And if they were 16x6.5's what offset will fill the well nicely? So they're not "tucked in"

Thanks

KayJai, I have 17x7 with a +42 offset. I does fit the wheel well very nicely! They have never rubbed yet.
As to the 16x6.5 I am not sure but I would think that the offset would be the same.

Random I could use a little of that "infinite" wisdom of yours.
