Ok, i sent an e-mail to 1010tires.com asking them why they don't have Tiburons under their vehicle selection area.

This is the response:

The problem is that most Hyundais have a bolt that sits on the front hubs
between the wheel studs. This bolt will not allow an aftermarket rim to sit
flush on the hub, so it pretty well prevents the installation of aftermarket
rims (even if they are the correct bolt pattern and offset). We have tried
many times to get a straight answer about what this bolt is for, and if it
is safe to remove. Every time we look into it we get told something
different. Because of this, we can not guarantee anything to fit this car.
If you check with your dealer and they tell you it is safe to remove this
bolt, then you can probably get some aftermarket rims, but this is your
responsibility. We can not recommend or endorse removal of this bolt.

I'm assuming he's talking about captive rotors right?

I have a 1999 so i'm assuming i'll be fine with aftermarket rims. It's 97's and 98's that have captive rotors? I did do a search but i wanted to clear this e-mail up.

i sure hope he's not talking about that stupid little philips screw that holds the rotor to the hub so you can put the tire on without cursing at your rotor for moving slightly out of place.

 

i believe some, if not all 99's do also...

just type in 2001 tiburon

or maybe just find any rim w/ the 4x114.3 pattern or any other car w/ the same pattern (96 Mitsu Galant for example)

Ok, i went and took a picture. I'm assuming these aren't captive. It's safe to take these 2 screws out?

 

96-99 tibs have captive rotors so what 1010tires.com is saying is that they dont garauntee you that they will be a great fit or a good ride. you will need a spacer and your car will shake.

those are the same rotors i have on my 01 tib but i only have 1 philips retainer screw per rotor.

 

does anybody know where i can buy rims that have the inserts for the captive rotor setup??? I dont feel like doing a swap!

 

only 96-98 have captive rotors.. and its only on the front rotors.. 99 + do not have them....

usually 4x114.3 rims (NOT universal 4 bolt) have the space behiind it for the bolt..
