Brakes Are Squeaking
hi
When I brake there is a squeaking noise. But only if I push it with a certain amound of force. If I push harder it stops. My friend thinks this comes from my brake pads in the front brakes. He said I should cut the edges of the pads. do you have any ideas what I can do against it?

what kind of brake pads are they, cheap pads will squeak there entire life.
how old are they, you might need new pads.
if you recently changed them, did you change the rotors?
even break dust can cause them to squeek, you need to give us more info.

when your brakes begin to squeak it means the pads are nearing the end of their life. get them changed definitely, and if you can afford it, get new rotors too, those are always good. otherwise just get pads, sounds like you need em.
Im gonna whore this b/c im having the same problem w/ my sisters outback, my bf recently changed her brake pads but they are squeaking still. So we know they're new but if there anything to put on them to make them stop squeaking? He was thinking there was some kind of grease or something
they are now 1 year old and about 12000km used. But they have been squeaking all the time. first I thought that they squeak because they are new. But they have never stopped squeaking. My friend had the same problem. he cut the edges of the rotors and the pads. This has helped in his case. Should I try this? Do you have a guide how to ge the pads out?

were the shims installed on the backs of the brake pads? were all the brake pads put in straight? were the caliper guide rods correctly lubed(with CALIPER GREASE)? are the brake pads cheap?
if you dont want to use the spray on brake quiet(i dont blame you...i dont trust it) then there is also a blue type thing you can put on the backs of the brake pads. works like dynamat by absorbing vibration, decreasing noise.
