Brakes
well, easy way to check your brakes. With the car OFF, gently pump the brakes. You do not need to press them down like you were ten feet from a cliff doing 100mph.. just nice and gently. If the Booster is working, you should hear a bit of air escaping with each gentle pump and with each the pedal should get harder and harder until it is rock hard.
Once the pedal is rock hard (assuming it went from soft to hard) Starting the car should bring it back to soft again as the booster re-energised with vacuume

Shoot...I just spent $300 on my brakes...
All 4 brake pads were bad...The rears were on warranty tho
My front right calliper went bad, and it wasnt holding pressure, so i had to get both front right & front left replaced...
My front right calliper was so bad that it smoked after i drove my car, and when my mechanic had it up on the rack, he couldnt even spin my rotor.
So it just wasnt a good day for me or the tib

Yeah but it's not too bad. I spent $1000 in one day redoing my brakes and suspension. So $100 a day isn't too bad. Still a nice put down for the car though. wink1.gif

Sounds like that is your problem right there koykoy. Check that out if you haven't already.

thanks for the replies... i checked already the vacuum tubes and brake lines, they are all tight.. checked also the booster, no prob...
i think bleeding would be the answer to this.. and maybe lube the caliper guide rods

Maybe your caliper pistons are bad, I know because it happened to me with a rear one once, they get rusted on a part is not usually at use (uncovered by the cilinder) and if you braked really hard, maybe you pushed the rusted part on the cilinder and it stucked. I don't know about the front ones though, I think that's more of a rear brake problem.

Yah, I think that it was my rear brakes that's causing the problem. I havent taken a look at it (still battling a flu) but I noticed some squeaking sound at the rear when the weather is cold (I suppose the pads are cold too) but went out when driving already. Seems like the pads do not "return" and kept clinging to the rotor when braking.
One thing I noticed now is when I brake hard on an emergency, there is some space in the pedal and therefore I have to press further down.... This I can't understand yet... Or maybe this something to do with ABS...
