lets talk about brakes anything about brakes
1.brakes are fun they allow you to stop
2.im putting xg calipers and 11in rotors in the front (cross drilled and dimpled) look for a DIY on it shortly
3.wilwood brake kits work really good but there expensive and i prefer brembo-they have more history with rally
4.if anybody wants brembo brakes let me know i can get you 12.9 inch brake setup
5.if you are in a rear wheel drive tap the brakes and give it gas and you can drift
6.dont buy drilled rotors they WILL crack unless the holes are there while casting ill have pics about this later
7. im swapping my drums to disk and plan on doing a diy on it
8.elantra master cylinder is 4:1 tib is 6:1 so im going to look for a new master cylinder and proportioning valve
9.My calipers are going to be blue
10.my group buy on goodridge lines is almost complete stainless lines allow you to stop faster and put less wear on your brakes i heard

Do you know if there are any break pads that don't leave break dust? I am going to be changing my pads soon and I hate break dust.

Well i used to have to replace brakes every 4 months or so until i swapped to hawk pads i have had those for 1 year and 4 months and its finnally getting to be the time to swap them
i have used
1. raybestos (lasted almost as long as the hawks but took alot of heating to get them to work)
2. hyundai (crap)
3. autozone top of the line(crap again but with a warranty so i used the warranty to its fullest)


these are the best pads i have ever bought
they do dust but all brake pads will when heavy braking is involved

with my swap im still sticking with hawk and am going to swap to hawk rear pads also with my disk swap

I am in the middle of my second set of front EBC Greenstuff pads and they are really good performers, plus they do not dust, I mean they do, but depends on how you drive and they definitely dust much less than OEM pads.

I'm thihking of painting calipers when I get all my brake stuff in. I took a look at my front calipers and they are shot to hell, like 1/4 inch black grime all over (not really rust...just grime).

What'd you guys use to clean, prep, paint?
Also, after looking I'm sure I'll have to remove caliper to clean and paint...can anyone help me out with how to remove and re-install safely. Something about flushing brake fluid...?

you will have to bleed your brakes after removing the caliper.

i wouldnt do it just to paint them, not worth it imo. just crab a couple cans of brake parts cleaner and some wire brushes(careful around you eyes!!!). anything that isnt vaporized by the brake parts cleaner you can aggitate with the wire brush and get rid of it. almost zero time involved in drying as the cleaner is SUPER volatile. you can watch it evaporate. make sure you get a brush on paint kit. i reccomend this one...

i got the kit at autozone... think it's duplicolor. worked nicely and it was only like 15-20 bucks. laugh.gif
