Hey guys,
I found a V6 Gk at the junker and want to use some of its parts to upgrade on my car.

From what i searched i see that you need the calipers from the GK and the Pads from a Sonata.
I know my pads are same as sonata.
So i might get away with the rotors.

I know in Korea the Elantra's(are 1.5) '96-'99 use the same pads as the accent.
But mine uses the same as the tiburon/sonata/xd.
I wonder what US based use?
I got part no. for rotor that my standard car is currently using 51712-33001.
Its the non-captive I think.(Dont have to take wheelbearing out to fit new rotors)

So i already asked them to strip the calipers..
Any points that i should take??
Thanks guys.

B.T.W What does BBK stand for? Is it a brand?

Ok, so you've asked about fitting GK brakes (5-lug) to your Tiburon -- you didn't mention what year of Tiburon you have, but since you're mentioning captive front rotors, I assume you have a '97-'98 correct? But you're not talking about GK brakes, you're talking about -- well, what are you talking about?

GK uses 11-inch rotors in the front, the RD's use a 10-inch rotor. You can't use a caliper for 11-inch brakes on a 10-inch rotor, it won't work. And if you're gonna use GK calipers and go find an 11-inch 4-lug compatible rotor, then just use GK brake pads -- you don't need to "swap" for any others.

His year is listed under his name, a 99.

Why not just find a XG350 and do the XG350 BBK swap, since all parts are already known and it is KNOWN to work as is.

I haven't heard of anyone, other than RED here, doing the GK swap, and that took swapping the entire hub/knuckle assembly and more, including a 5 lug swap.

Lots to go through when you can just do the xg350 one.

I dont have the captive. I can change my brake disc without taking the wheel bearing and hub out.
So its non captive! And I was gonna use the NF sonata disc like fordfasterr did.

We dont have any of the XG cars here. I think its too upper market and people will rather buy german brands for luxury cars...
Thats why my only choice would be the GK...

Apparently using the NF sonata rotors will work according to this post by fordfasterr

I will definately not go along with it if it involve all that redz.
I didnt see red's post but will search for it.

The J3 may not be the same as the Tib for a 5-lug conversion, but it sounds like you just want the brakes rather than the entire hub.

When I get home tonight, I'll see if the GK calipers will bolt onto the RD front knuckles. If they do, then you might be able to find a 4-lug 11-inch Hyundai rotor somewhere (maybe that's what the Sonata offers?) that should work. At least now I see what you're doing, so hopefully I can help...

I am almost 100% sure its using same as the RD tiburon with non-captive rotor!
I sell the parts for Hyundai thats why i say this.
Let me know.
Much appreciated.

The Kia Spectra, 2003-2005, uses an 11 inch rotor and is 4 lug.

That's what I'm using with the XG350 BBK.

If you want the XG350 BBK, I'll get you the calipers, that's not a problem. They are also found on the Kia Sorento, and MANY other models. Look up the XG350 2 piston calipers online, and see what vehicles are cross referenced for them. Either that, or I can get them for you.

www.rockauto.com

You CAN get them.

The other nice part, you don't have to change brake lines if you don't want to, and don't need any custom lines made.

That sounds like a plan, then. I'd go with what REDZMAN posted and not even worry about the GK parts.
