If the RD1 is like the RD2 it isn;t hard. Simply pull off the wheel and then the caliper. The remove the pads. Once the pads are off you need to take off the clips and clean them off. Then put the clips on the new pads and re-assemble. It isn't very hard and once you get in thereit makes more sense. The rear (atleast on the RD2's) was the bigger pain simply because you needed to take a clamp and push the hydrolic piston to a high position due to the width of the new pads compared to the width of the old ones. Hope this helps atleast some.

Do NOT clamp the back calipers. Use the tool man... the back calipers TWIST back in. You can buy the brake tool for cheap at any auto store.

not all had captice rotors.. mine doesn't. I do not think that it would really make a difference what rotors you have, we are talking pads here.

I agree, buy the 5 buck tool for rotating the rear calipers back into position. The fronts you clamp back into the caliper.

Also don't just replace the pads and reassemble. Take your time to check to see of the pad "floats", this means they won't seize and keep pressure on the rotor. The things I'm talking about are the little rubber stopper looking things that keep the pad off the rotor when you are braking. If they are seized you can normally free them and use a little grease to keep them from doing so again. Also check to see if the rubber cover is in good shape.

I had my front right seize on me, causing me to replace the rotor, and ruin the bearing in the process.
