Default beta swap- new suspension required ?

First off.

i fitted a beta engine into my 1.3 alpha Hyundai accent (47,000 miles) had from new.

Problem is when i tuning the ecu yesturday driving it i noticed i lost the smooth ride i once had and it started to be alittle harsher and noticed every bump in road.

Is there much weight difference between the 2 engines and should the suspension be firmed up ?

you have a suspension designed for a cheap eco-shitbox

then decided to add a motor roughly 100#s heavier (probably more with everything else you added to it for the swap) that doesnt even include the turbo parts

....

lets put it in math terms

fail sh*t suspension

+ 100lbs

i knew engine was heavier because i was the one who lifted it into place.

Are there any commonly changed parts after a beta swap.. All the older posts iv read about this all have dead links.

at a MINIMUM id probably look at some heavier springs and better quality struts, i believe h&r makes a spring set for the accent, eibach used to but im not so sure they sell them anymore

be careful with lowering springs though, the heavier motor probably already lowered the car some, so a 2" drop can easily become a 3" drop so keep that in mind

if it were me, id pick up the set of ksports listed in for sale by fintile (assuming you have a LC accent that is) that way you can have a heavy duty suspension while maintaining stock ride height or slightly lower plus its adjustable for the track and he has em listed at a damn good price

although its sorta a trade off, while you will have more traction be better off in the long run, a stronger suspension WILL have the trade off of being harsher than when you had the stock motor/stock suspension setup

Whatever you do, stay away from the cheap $75 sleeve coil overs. If you get better struts like KYBs, you should be ok though.
