Best Budget Lowering Springs
MajikTib: Yeah if you have a BK, then coilovers is the way to go, since it's mostly show, and that Veilside kit is LOW even with STOCK suspension, we have a member who's already cracked his front bumper already. But as far as ride quality and performance,... boo urns
blue2000: I will let you know FOR SURE. I've been dying to go, just that they've been on tuesday evenings @ like 5:30, and I don't get off till 5, so I can never make it,... I can go and watch (have a couple of times) but it's more fun competing!
BTW, you look at that crazyvid? She still drives the same, but has a club GTR kit on it now smile.gif

KayJai... if it's enforcers VS kit (the fake) then I'm not surprised it cracked. I had mine for 8 months and put it through hell, and never have a chip or crack in it. Veilside really has the quality. Just don't run into a curb and it's fine. If your buddy has the fake, he'll probably spend so much money fixing it that he could have bought the authentic.
Does lowering the car have the ability to improve handling and performance, or can it only hinder it? With trucks, it does nothing but hurt it.

I wasn't sure if you were asking KayJai but I can take a shot at answering... Lowering can improve a cars performance characteristics provided the springs and dampers are appropriate. Generally speaking, if you lower a vehicle the springs MUST be stiffened even to maintain the original handling. This is the problem with lowering trucks...often people simply install lowering shackles in the rear without changing the springs.
The idea of lowering a car to improve handling comes from the idea of lowering the roll center of gravity of the car. However, it's not necessary to improve handling.
The handling characteristics are generated from several variables. Including spring rate, wheel rate, anti-roll bar rate, damper rate, alignment, tire quality (and inflation), corner balance, and ride height. All these factors interact with each other, of course. For instance...my tib has understeer. I can correct this by stiffening the rear suspension (springs or damper rates) OR by adding camber to the front OR by increasing rear tire pressure. When I added camber to the front I had to decrease the rear tire pressures.
You can begin to see why suspension tuning is so important for race cars. Change one characteristic and you may have to alter 2 or 3 or 4 others as well.
