Default Another tire question--Squeezing the right size in the fender

The size of the tire and wheel have been bothering me of late. Specifically...I have contemplated getting an 18" wheel and a very low profile tire (30 or 35) to compensate for the speedo. I am dropping my car at the same time (1.6"). Will this work? If someone answers with the words "shaving fenders", I am going to consider it a no. smile.gif

The other point is the tire width...The wheel I have been thinking seriously (if I stay at 17") is the Motegi MR12. Now they are 7.5 wide and I learned that at 215 will fit in there but many say stay with the 205. But I want I nice wide tire for traction. Why is that? Can I upgrade to 215?

I have 18's on my car with a 1.75 drop or so my 18's are 18x7 with a +40 offset. It only rubs when I turn into a place that has a step incline going into it and also on large bumps if I'm going fast threw them. But I took mine off for winter plus I want to roll my fenders to see if that will keep them for rubbing if not I'm going to raise my car up some to make room or go with air, hydros, or coilovers. You can see my car in my sig or click the link under it to see more pics.
