Air Ride Suspension
I know that it has been talked about before but not so much as to be helpful. I know the ride might be a little bit harder, but I think that I want to look into this. I could not find a system just for our cars, does anyone have an idea of how much it would run to do a custom one to fit our cars?
Custom you could do for under a grand Im sure. I havent looked into it at all but somewhere there is a thread on it. Its not terribly hard to hook up either depending on your experience.
air ride setups are usually custom, nothing made for our cars. Might have to make brackets to make it fit.
I'd search around some mini-truck forums to get an idea of what setups are more reliable. FBI are popular from what I remember... Visionz or Guilty might be able to help you out if you wanna shoot them a message, or post it on HyundaiAftermarket.org
Air Struts or cylinders... bags... there are a couple ways to go. You also want to put stoppers on there, so if a bag pops or a cylinder snaps due to a pothole, your front bumper doesn't become road kill.

I have built many air ride vehicles and have to jump in and say airbagit.com or AIM is not the way to go! I have bought their stuff and have installed their stuff on a couple vehicles. It has no quality! There is a site that has universal strut bags i will try to remember it or find it in my notes and post it.And if you do it right a bagged vehicle can ride very good but if you dont its a huge waste of time and money so do it right the first time. Its the little things that keep adding up. (air line, fittings, pressure switches, solonoids..etc etc.)
Just throwin some links but check this out suicide doors These guys are awesome! I have ordered and installed and used and very much approve the products these guys sell! They are the best in the minitruckin community. Very friendly staff. Now you have me wanting to bag another car! CRAP SEE WHAT YOU DID!!!!
And here is the universal bag. Ive never tryed one but would love to know how good they work! universal air

I have alot of stuff over on Hyundai Aftermarket in regards to air suspension. AIM and airbagit are not that great in quality, when it comes down to items for cars. Trucks...they're ok, but theres definitely much better stuff out there. Never rely on other peoples brackets either, because alot of vendors build their brackets off of general measurements. They're never exact. So build your own brackets, taking perfect measurements so nothing rubs or gets screwed up.
Also, you'll save a ton of money by having your own. You just need to know how to weld really good and take dimensions with good accuracy. smile.gif If you need any help or have any other questions, Im available here or over on HA. smile.gif

I was thinking about installing an air suspension for a long time but never had a chance to ask somebody that is actually using it about his experience with it. Would you choose an air suspension over coilovers and why?
^^ Depends on what you want from the suspension. Airbags are great for that bumper scraping stance, but tend to lack a little in overall performance. Coil-overs don't offer the adjustability of ride height that the 'bags do, but tend to offer a better handling trade-off. So do you want a blvd cruiser that you air out or a corner carver with a fairly fixed stance?
Must agree on the AIM sucks. They've been the laughing stock of mini and fullsize trucks for years.
