Okay, so I'm driving along after dropping my son off at school, the front tires (Khumo Esta 712's) are a bit bald but should get me through to next week so I can order 2 more Falken Ziex 512's right?

Wrong.

Doing about 60 and I hear this...

Ziiiiiip!

Flop,

Flop smack smack

Flop smack smack

Damnit. I'm worried I lost a belt or something, so I get pulled over and look under the engine. No problems there. I look at the passenger tire and a section on the inside of the tire tore loose and is still hanging, slapping the bottom of the car and the wheel well in 2 places with every revolution.

I start calling around for tires, thank god the tire shops open in a few. PepBoys = Hankook Optima II's on sale for $75 a piece, in 205/50/16's!! But they are out of stock and would have to order them. Guy says he can get them in in a day or 2, but I have to be able to pick up my wife. Besides, for some reason, mounting and ballancing will bring it to $238?

WTF?

Next call, Discount Tire. Cooper Zeon ZPT's, $81 a piece and rated to 130MPH. So I head over there and the guy gives me a discount for being a loyal Discount Tire customer and becase my Khumo's wore out so fast (I've peeled out a few times and take corners a bit tight...).

So, 30 minutes later I've got new tires on the front, mounted, ballanced, and road hazzard warranty for $218.

These tires look nice. I'll get some pics up here. Nice tread pattern, the rubber seems to be a bit harder than the 712's, but they wouldn't spin easy when I tried to do it.

Not bad for a morning eh? Anyone else got Coopers?

We sell cooper at the shop and they are nice tires, sold a few of the ZPT's and have had no complaints. Coopers are the only ones I think that still have road hazzard,...

But yeah, tread rating is "soft" per say on the ZPT's. But when you feel them, they are friggin Hard!!
Be interested to know how the tread wears,... keep us posted
