Adr Rims On Our 99

We just bought a set of ADR Intense wheels for my daughter's 99 tibby. Her boyfriend is having trouble getting them to set right because of those bolts on the rotors. I've been searching and have found so many opinions...spacers? remove the bolts? machine out a whole for the bolt? HELP. what should we do??

rd1's(97-99) have captive rotors in the front. This means the rotors are held to the hub by those 4 bolts on the rotor. If you take those out to fit the rim the wheel will fall off the car while driving. The only way other than swapping to a non-captive knuckle is to get spacers.
I don't remember where to find those but I would try a wheel store. Mine came with the rims since I bought them off another tib owner.
Edit --> If it is a universal bolt pattern. Most likely when you line the rim up to fit the studs properly, the other 4 holes will set over those rotor bolts perfectly. If you dont mind doing so you can dremel those holes slightly larger to fit over the bolts. It only hurts resale options.

99s dont have captive rotors anyway. Only the 97 and earlier 98s.
Take the screws out. It wont make a difference as the wheel holds the rotor on. No big deal. They likely will be hard to get out though depending on when the brakes were done. An impact screwdriver works best.

yeah, didnt think the 99 had captive.. only 97..
those screws are just used when assembling the cars, so the rotor doesn't fall off on the assembly line.. most cars don't have the two small screws.. just take em out.

I have a 99 and agree. The two screws are used at the factory for assembly purposes only. Remove the philips screws and enjoy the wheels. smile.gif

Yup, do away with them, mine had them too when I got my custom wheels put on at Tire Discounters. They just took them out, never had any issues to date.
