I completed the 5spd swap... now I have to learn how to drive it nana.gif it was a fun drive home....

anyways, my brake lights don't work. Running lights work fine, but brake lights don't work. 3rd Brake light doesn't work. Can't be a fuse (checked them all, and one fuse wouldn't control all 3 lights).

Any ideas? Did I mess something up with the rewire of the Keyshift Lock Plug? Is there a wire there for the brakes? ANY IDEAS? The plug is plugged into the brake pedal at the top.

please help sad.gif

im assuming by brake lights you mean both of them because I used to have a problem where the little tab that the bulb sits on was bent down too far and did not touch the bulb itself so they wouldnt come on. Could be both bad bulbs? unlikley but possible laugh.gif. In the process of the swap, did you crimp any wires?

Isnt there a fuse inside the engine bay that controls all three?, O well I always thought it did.

it's all 3... right, left, and 3rd brake light on the spoiler.

Thanks to SOCKS for all the late night answers he was able to provide as I struggled through it, even though he laughed when he heard I popped the TOB into the clutch pat.gif

First check fuse, its one of the 15amps near the dash, and it does control all 3 brake lights. However you said they are all good so.

Go find the brake light switch under the car. Disconnect the connector, and find a paper clip and look at the 4 prongs. Touch I believe the top left prong and the bottom right prong with the paper clip. If the brake lights come on, your switch is dead. If not, then there something wrong with the switch back to the light.

No, you won't electrocute yourself, there will be a spark though.

I've had a few fuses that look perfect that were bad. Replacing them one at a time has fixed issues for me 2 times now, and the culprit was a bad fuse, that looked great.

Got any pics? Maybe we can pick up something you don't.

Ye, as an FYI there is a spare fuse in the under-dash fuse box, the ones along the bottom. Try one of those in the slot just in case even if it looks good.

THE only thing that would affect the brake lights not coming on would be

1. a fuse
2. the switch that is on the pedal
3. bulbs

I talked to him before posting this. He had a problem where the top filament broke loose and touched the bottom filament, sending a surge through the electrical system. I've checked the bulbs already.

The switch at the brake pedal?
