17s?
I have had 18's on my car for 3 years now and I love them. I dont rub at all but then again I have air-ride too. But when I first got them before the air-ride I just rolled the fender a little and never rubbed once. And that was with a 1.75 drop. They are 18x7 with a +40 offset. Sits nice inside the fender well.
I have had 17s for a couple of years now and I have hit some pretty nasty bumps and have never bent a rim. When I switched to 17s from the stocker 15s I was surprised on how little the overall ride changed. I had read all of these horror stories about how it would be so bumpy. I find it funny that there are all these guys that are "oh your ride will be so rough!!" Damn what are you driving your grandmas Buick Park Avenue or are you driving what is supposed to be a sporty car?? I have since added Eibach springs and my ride is still quite stock feeling over bumps but handles TONS better. I would recommend getting Z rated tires as they tend to have a stiffer side wall and will offer a little more protection when hitting larger bumps. smile.gif
OK, the argument will continue, but I want to add my 2 cents. for the past 2 winters, I've gone back to my 15"s from my 17"s, and every time I do, it feels like I'm riding on a balloon around corners. It takes some getting used to every October/November. For the summer, IMO, 17"s look so nice on a lowered RD. But I must admit, the ride is VERY rough. I ride on the Falken 512 205/40/17 Z rated... In the spring, the new struts will be installed, and maybe due to the 1.75" drop springs I've shot the stock struts (likely), the ride will imporve... but in the meantime, I'd say...
17"s = nicer look, better cornering, rougher ride, & slower take-off (even with light wheels)...

isn't it the same one in porsche's? or porsche-tuned?
porsche designed the tiburon suspension system......
and the whole wheel thing is just personal preference .... but the goal (performance goal) with different rims and sizes is to make it as easy as possible for the engine to spin em ...smaller and lighter are obviously easier to move.
ive had 17's for about 3 years and i remember the day i put them on and drove around, handled soooo much better, but pulled off the line like i had andre the giant ridin shotgun. im goin to forged 16's when i get the mula
