what exactly is different about springs and struts vs. full coilovers?

ajay, tell us how they hold up next year. that is one determining factor. i'd consider these but i'm happy with my eibach.

double ditto. most all around complete mod i have done. course, it was the most expensive too.

SOCKS, check out the first page. it says they have 3-way adjustable damping. mine are 36-way adjustable, but in all honesty, 3 is all you really need. mine are set for full soft and i love them there. havent even experimented with any other settings.

HKC, the main difference is that coilovers are EXTREMELY adjustable in relation to just spring/struts. the only adjustment you might get with spring/struts is adjustable damping, and that is only on the high end and highly priced struts...billstein, kyb agx and such. nearly all coilovers are damping adjustable to some degree, offer preload adjusting by raising/lowering the spring perch, offer heigh adjustment again by the spring perch and also *in most* adjustable lower mounts. if you can get pillowball mounts then you have camber adjustment as well, and not the slight and crude amount you can get by opening up the lower mount bolt holes a little with a dremel. not to mention since a coilovers strut body is mainly universal between all car and just the external parts change, you can get different spring rates for coilovers on any type of car. its not like eibach springs for us which will only come in one spring rate. coilovers are generally a rougher ride yet grippier whereas springs/struts are VERY near to stock comfort, but do give up a little handling. also if you mix and match springs and struts chances are they are not always designed for each other whereas coilovers always are. and most of the time coilovers are more easily rebuildable which all goes back to the fact that they are geared more towards a race part.

Ajay, can you please measure the box that they came in? if you still have it....

If you remember the shipping weight... even better!

Thanks!

Ajay, now that you've had these for some time now, how do you like them? Whats the ride like in comparison to stock?

Regit 03-01-2007 08:06 PM

ajay has been pm'd so lets not post anything more in here until he posts with what he thinks about em.

majik 03-02-2007 02:21 PM

this was posted during my AWOL period, so it's the first time I've seen it. I've seen the pics of the car before during the fender flare construction, but this is definitely the weirdest looking Tiburon I've ever seen. It's so... uhm, I can't explain it.

I think I like it. Flares, front bumper.... yeah, I think I like it.

Coilovers look good as well.

Take it to the Dallas NOPI show next week!!
