The new Accent based hatch is to be revealed in about one week at the Frankfurt Auto Show in Germany, where this was designed at Hyundai's brand new facility. It is the supposed to be sent over to MSD factory in England to be crafted, built and tuned into a fine World Rally Car.
I think it looks kind of small and quirky. I don't really like it. It looks more suited to be a kit car than a rally car. It's really a shame that sedans don't stand a chance in the WRC anymore and it's also a shame that it's not in an agressive form of a sport coupe...
Reminds me of the 1998-1999 Toyota Corolla WRC. They did win the World Championship almost twice... But I'd rather have a beautiful car on the road beating the crap out of other teams than an ugly one. mad.gif
The new Accent in general is definitely Hyundai's reaction towards the 2004 Toyota Corolla, it's a bandwagon Hyundai hopes to invest in. I don't doubt that Hyundai Tiburon F2 EVO's, like Toyota Celica GT4 were replaced by the same move and I predict after a few measily years of rallying in 2007 Hyundai will have retired the sport and moved to Formula 1 racing.

Most of your rally winning cars cannot be considered "pretty" There have been some exceptions over the years...
The Stratos, Fiat 124, and Lancia 037 come to mind.. the Audi Quattro Coupe was not bad looking either..
The Lancia Delta Intergrale, pug 206, Mitsu Evo, and Subaru Impreza are Handsome at best.. but they are not pretty.

^ I could break it down but there's a more simple explanation than paragraph after paragraph. The 4 door cars are simply too big and have a longer wheelbase.
As rallying evolves, so do the cars. Would you believe that in Catalunya Spain 1999, during a world rally event, (There were three, Hyundai Coupe F2 EVO II, Renault Megane Coupe F2, Citroen Xsara F2(Citroen 1 year prior to their WRC Xsara)) Formula 2 (Class below WRC, FWD cars with half the speed and horsepower) Citroen Xsara beat all of the WRC cars because of the torque it created at high RPM's meaning without losing any speed on the twisting corners of Catalunya the Citroen Formula 2 BEAT all of the WRC cars with Philippe Bugalski as the driver!!!
The Peugeot 206, double manufacturer's title winner, the citroen xsara, another double win, it's more than evident that the smaller the cars the better. Mitsubishi Lancer and Subaru WRX STi stand no chance compared to these small buggers, even when their drivers are the best in the world and drive much better than the ones with the smaller cars.

the angle the hood makes with the windsheild is too great on the accent to make it look like that toyota. id say its closer to the peugots and citroens than that toyota.
