Modern rallying is different than it ever was. cars are weird looking, resemble homogolated cars less, with a larger wheel base and easier handling capabilities than former cars. stages are kept clean, and gravel to reduce costs. it's not that interesting anymore. if there is a video from 1998, you KNOW it's 1998. if there's a video from 2006, i'm not sure if it's from 2005, 2008, 2007... all the same to me and i really could care less. why?
Although Hyundai parted with WRC long ago and my first forum was wrc.com since the beginning of Hyundais campaign beginning with McRae and Tomasz Kuchar, things will never be the same without the legends such as Burns, McRae, Gronholm, Makinen...etc as well as legendary cars Impreza RS, 206, Carism/Lancer VI, Cordoba...etc, and legendary rallies such as San Remo, Monte Carlo, and Safari (???? Rally is not Rally without those) it's still the best, competitive, fairest, most exciting, scenic, unpredictable, natural & down to earth motorsport of all.
I will particuarly be rooting for Petter Solberg. Kimi Raikkonen and Ken Block will but i don't really care if Loeb or Hirvonen or anybody wins it's just not interesting with 2-car teams, 2 manufacturers and only 2 drivers are competing.
