Thinking about buying an RX-8
My neighbor is selling his 2006 RX-8 for $7400 and I was thinking about picking it up as a second vehicle. Is there anything I should really know about them before going through with it? It has low miles, and hes an older guy who has a love for Mazdas (hes owned 9 total) so I know he took good care of it.

You'll love the twisties, and get left behind the straights by just about everyone.
I could be wrong, but check the MPG's on those.

^Jon is exactly right. You'll end up pulling into the pump almost as much as a large SUV. The mileage on them sucks ass, but you will indeed absolutely love the 50/50 weight balance and track equipped suspension.

Everything about the suspension and chassis is great, but the engine is underpowered and a gas hog. So it depends on what you're looking for. At $7500 I would consider it for an autox car, and occasional cruiser. I would never dd one though just for the mileage.

The Renesis only major flaw is it's major accomplishment. Mazda needs to find a to valve the exhaust in a VVT manor so that under minor rev it utilizes the side ports but under high load it resorts back to the standard housing wall. That being accomplished I think they could pretty efficiently tackle cold fusion and plasma generators. Meh, if you want a rotary FCs come cheap as dirt these days, in fact I saw an early GTU today for $1200. But if I bring home another project car my wife will drive it strait up my.... ANYWAY.
