In the states you can get a Leaf for around 21k (after fex sb)

So, there you go.

No....more like, being rewarded for your hard work, having incentive to working hard. You can still give money to others, and when you do, you don't ant to waste it, so you give it to deserving hard working people aka employment. It beats having little incentive to work hard because your money will be taken from you if you do work hard and given to lazy people. That is how capitalism works... If it is the better idea, it wins, it gets more money. Not, whatever the govt pushes and says is a good idea because they have an agenda wins, that BS.

In certain circumstances, (like GE) yea, Obama is in bed with them. I don't think they are in bed with Tesla, but Tesla is smart, taking advantage of a tyranic govt. Why would anyone smart invest in oil, it is regulated and going the wayside due to regs. Smart people would invest in solar, wind, electric cars ect. Anything the govt wants to push, of course it would be smart to jump in on. I am not sayng Tesla isn't smart, they are, I like their cars too. I am just not impressed by their sales, of course an EV will do good in todays society. And you know what will do bad? If a company made 10mpg gas guzzling machines.

You're calling me shortsighted? Sounds like you're the one who only cares about the next 70 or so years (I'm assuming that's about how many years you may have left on the planet). Oh, believe me, I understand it. Money is God. Just ask the Catholic Church.

I have a family of 3 with a forth coming sometime in the near future (I hope), I don't think a Leaf will be on my list of "family" cars. 21K! (It's actually a little more than that even with the fed rebate). I can buy a Versa (almost the same car but gasoline powered) for under 12K. (I quoted US prices, in Canada the Leaf is closer to 40K! )

Fourty thousand dollars of australian currency eh?

Column A:

Mid sized hatch

50 to 100 mile range

Lolbatteries

Lolresale

Lolfwd

Must be serviced by nissan for the rest of time

Column B:

Full sized sedan

29 mpg/360+ mile range

Parts available forever

Cletus can fix with fencing wire and chewing gum

Can expect 250+ thousand miles out of original drivetrain

Can tow/do burnouts/is a decent drive if that's important to you

And that's just the numbers game. I mean, one is a super lush full sized sedan that is cheap to run, super comfy, and nice to drive and live with. The other is an oddball hatch which drives around in a sea of question marks.

So what would you, the average consumer, put your family in?

First... Is that a Falcon? Not available in the land of Summer in August. Second... average consumers don't post on car forums. Maybe you should be posting on the Consumer Reports forum?

I hope you aren't insinuating that a falcon isn't good for skids.

Look at the leaf interior ffs, those door trims and seats could be straight out of an LC accent.

I've been in several Leafs. I do work at a Nissan dealer. The fit and finish is very high on them. Materials all feel nice.

I wouldn't know if a Falcon is good at skids. Ford doesn't sell them or anything like them here.

That is the govt cheating so push its own agenda further. Want to push "A-M"? All you have to do is ban or heavily tax and punish "N-Z" and you are golden. Doing covert, backdoor, illegal acts since you can't actually overtly effect it.

GE's 'waste of money' wind energy is doing great too.....dispite the fact that they cost more money than they take in and go against all capitalist logic of making money.

So the govt needs to collect on loans, how to help the people you loan money to....Hey, lets punish the rest of the non-loan people who actually are doing it right and reward the people that suck, that is how we can get our money back!

Windmills around me are producing power at half the projected cost.

There are no free markets.

I wouldn't get carried away. Its fine for what it is, an electric, slightly more eco-snob friendly Versa. It is what it is. The statement of the backseat being like an LC is pretty accurate, but it doe have more leg room than an LC. Still, for 20k its a good solid car and drives VERY nice. And for a car in the low-mid 20s, it's actually a nice buy. Comparing it to a 30 mpg sedan is like comparing a GC to a 599.
