Saab 9-3
#1
i picked up my black saab 9-3 arc 5 speed this morning. hollllyyyyy sshhhhiiiitt. 221 lb-ft at 2500 rpms from a td04. so freaking drivable. i chose this over the c230 kompressor sedan. the saab is bad ass. i didn't know fwd could be this fun. i know it's blasphemy against the tibs, but i drove the piss out of mine for 5 years and had a helluva time. time to move on. i would highly recommend this car. pay the extra for the arc or aero models (with the high boost motor).
my review:
1) better steering response than the tib, though slower steering ratio
2) turbo is very drivable. does lose steam above 5500-6000 rpms, but basically not noticable. you can only tell from the hp/tq chart.
3) shifter gates could be better defined.
4) fwd is not gay or evil laugh.gif
5) interior ergonomics and quality is undeniably swedish. built upon concise convenience.
6) factory performance parts...damn lease. can't do a thing to the car.
7) free scheduled maintenance for 3 years.
8) uh, factory FUNCTIONAL body kit that reduces lift by 70%!!!! and, uh, looks awsome.
honestly, i don't know if i WOULD modify this car. it's perfect the way it is. test drive one. wink1.gif

well, right now they're having the GM employee price program, so the car was $24,292 and invoice is around $29,000! like i said in the first post, the only thing that gets me is the shifter. i think i'm just used to having a short shifter in the tib that i spent a lot of time trying to get to be very precise. the build quality is extremely solid. i put it on par with the mercedes c230. i got the arc model, which is the middle. with the aero (top model), you pay for a functional body kit, rims, better seats, and a tighter/lower suspension. however, you can buy all of these from the factory and make your own laugh.gif
brian, the suby is a kid's car. that's not what i was going for.
