So, I was going to order some HID's for my wifes car (95 Pontiac Sunfire) and something dawned on me.

It takes the 9007, where the high beam and low beam is one bulb. Now I know people said you can't have HID's in you high beam because you lose the "flash" feature w/ your high beams.

So how do the HID's for the 9007's work? Is the high beams HID also? Is it some kind of dual filament where the low beam is HID, and high beam isn't?

Just curious, I would like to know before I would order some.

they make them essentially how you described so that the high beam can be used if thats what the bulb calls for. I would still probably double check with the vendor you order them from.

I was under the impression you LOSE your high beams if you have a dual filament bulb. At least I did in my GF's Yaris (H4 bulb). Don't really need em cuz the HID's are hella bright. And as for "flashing" they just do the oposite and turn of and on when I pull the arm.

Don't those years of Sunfire's have that "frosty" style headlamp thats on an angle? You may not get very good performance from that style of headlamp. HID's work better in projector style or clear lenses.

You can buy dual filament HIDs. I have them in my Accent and both high and low beam are HIDs.

The reflective headlights I have seen with HIDs are blinding, because it's non-directional. They look like the high beams are always on, because the light is so bright and it bounces everywhere.

The projector headlights on the RD2 are better for HIDs, as they're directional and point all of the light onto the ground, so it isn't blinding everybody else on the road.

I personally wouldn't get HIDs unless they were in projectors. Unless there's a way to direct them low enough so they aren't always blinding people

Well I think the point of high beam HIDS, at least for me anyway, is to use them for the DRLs. I can't stand the look of the stock yellow bulbs being constantly on, and the only way to counter that is to either take the bulbs out or turn the regular headlights on all the time. Or, buy HIDs for the DRLs.

Not really, you could get some colored "Zenon" or whatever bulbs to replace those and just use HID's for your low beams.

Dang. I'll probably end up doing that and then just disable the DRLs after I get insurance.

DRLs? I see no reason to use my high beams after I got the HIDs.
