"It all began with a humble dream of a Korean car company, then little known Hyundai Motor Company(HMC) and the dream finally came true, with technical cooperation with Mitsubish Motors of Japan and with help of the growing coach builder, Ital Desgin in Turin, under the direction of Giorgetto Giugiaro giving the birth to Pony Coupe, the official name for Hyundai's 1st Coupe. However, its luck ended there being remembered by many as one-time prototype for the motor show. But its design concept was well carried over to its 4-door hatchback brother which enjoyed a great success and popularity in the domestic market. Yet, it was not uncommon to see them in Europe, Mid-East and South America to where they were exported. "

Our Coupes spawned in Turin, Italy by Giorgetto Giugiaro who also designed the Lotus Espirit in the Bond Film, and the Delorean.
The same guy designed the Hyundai Pony, Excel, Sonata, and Stellar. Other noble designs include the BMW Naszca C2, M1, Audi 80, and 90's Daewoo models.

The don't make 'em like they used to. I really like that design. The first car I fell in love with was a Honda CRX. I love that style. That Pony Coupe looks like a cross between a CRX and a Delorian. Kind of a nostalgic feeling looking at the pictures of that car. I like the boxy, yet aerodynamic features of the car.

I have to show this thread to my husband!!! Although he's probably already seen these pics. But still, very cool!
haha, his response: "you bastards and your curvy lines can't appreciate straight edge design"
Personally I don't find it appealing either, but to each his own.

I hope the flux capacitor comes standard and not as a dealer extra!
I wonder how the handling is seeing that is just a wedge in the air. It has RETRO written all over it.
