My aunt has a Grand Cherokee that could be affected. I hope something gets resolved. Its rare that a car company will disobey something from the NHTSA.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the gas tank design in 1993 to 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and in 2002 to 2007 Jeep Libertys is faulty and unsafe.
Chrysler says it’s a commonly accepted tank design and used in many other vehicles.
They also claim the fatal accidents were almost all high-speed and a different design would not have made a difference.

I'd say this is hardly an open and shut case - let's hear some evidence, in court if necessary. If Chrysler genuinely thinks the design is safe why would they NOT spend a few million to fight tens of millions of dollars in un-necessary repair costs? And going forward, how about we don't link to articles that are fullscreen autoplaying videos?
