Hey!
I know I haven't been around much lately. Car's remained pretty much unchanged for about a year so I figured there wasn't much point talking about it 02.gif
A few months ago, I bought a little 1990 Honda VT250 Spada. Something to learn on. I'll no doubt upgrade to a 600cc when I get my full licence in a year or so... but for now, it's keeping me busy when I have some spare time on my hands.
Here's how it was when I bought it 3 months ago...
Here it is now (sorry about the poor-quality camera-phone pics)...
and the last little 'mod' was the tank pad I put on a couple of night ago
All in all, it's a good little bike. Makes a whopping 40bhp!! lol, although it does sound pretty meaty with this exhaust. Only sounds like a 250cc bike when I go over 70km/h. Under that sort of speed, it could nearly pass for a... umm... larger bike wink1.gif
Mods so far are:
- Aftermarket headlight & surround
- Polished bar-end spikes
- Polished swing-arm spikes
- Spike windscreen bolts
- Resprayed satin-black
- Alloy frame has been polished
- Red reflective rim tape
- Aftermarket mirrors
- Chrome tank pad/protector

not a damn thing wrong with a 250 cc bike bud. in fact, i really see no need to get a bigger one cause the last time i checked speed limit is 70 mph on the interstate here (110 kph roughly).
I really want a Aprilia RS 250 something bad. even though its a "track purpose only" bike here in the U.S. , as long as you have turn signals and headlights on it I can get it tagged with no problems.

^ The RS250 is a 2-stroke though. It delivers its power quite aggressively (i.e.: Nothing... then Bam!), so there's more of a rush from it. It's also much faster than my bike.
This one's ok for now but I'd like to have a bike that is designed to take corners a bit better. I've already scraped the pegs a couple of times on this thing. Not necessarily wanting to do 300km/h or anything like that. Just want a more focused sportsbike with sharper handling & some better wind protection too: this thing feels like you're doing 200 when you're only actually doing half that... because of the wind trying to blow you off the bike, lol. Not super stable at speeds higher than 100km/h either, I've found.

^ Cheers mate fing02.gif
Next on my 'to do list' are:
- Proper air filter & tune
- Some kind of custom lower cowl/fairing
- Fatter rear tire. Maybe 160 (stock is 140) as any wider than that will require modification to the swing-arm. I'd also like to find a wrecked Honda 250 Hornet as that has the 180mm wide Fireblade rear tire saevil.gif
- Maybe paint the calipers red or something

Looks good Tim (as I said b4).
Going to wider tyres on a bike is not necessarily a good thing, and can actually make the bike handle worse.

We have capacity & power-to-weight restrictions for learner riders.
I don't think the Spada was ever sold in the States but here, it's seen as a pretty good, cheap learner bike.
Edit*: No tricks... other than 'not falling', lol.
What is the formula (if any) that I should be sticking to? My stock rims are 2.5" front & 4" rear. Stock tyres are 110mm front & 140mm rear.
