|
wow, very nice! s-2000s are pretty quick off the line. they can spin tires in 3rd gear because they're light. i like them... saw a guy sporting some 18's on one which looked pretty hot. i like red ones because they really look sporty.
nice to see he can afford one. they're just as expensive as STi's these days. the turbocharged ones must be REALLY crazy!!! Maybe about 400hp+ depending on mods. that ferrari is hot. i've liked ferraris but i recently drove next to a 360 Spider and it looked pretty normal. heck, i think my tib looked better than it! no doubt about it they're insanely quick. but definitely not worth it because a turbocharged Supra can beat it easily. |
More to life than the quarter mile.. comparing a supra to a ferrari is a crime. Until you have driven one of Maranello's hand made beasts.. there is nothing to understand.
I gotta know though.. why put a hardtop on an S2000? |

900th post</div> why? it just adds weight and complexity to an almost perfect sports car. And it ruins the best part about the car, the freedom only a convertable can instill in the driver. Please do not say it makes the car more rigid.. only being attached at four points, it adds nothing. |

I agree Mad, there's no comparing anything there. i saw this video from streetfire, just a little notch of pressure to the pedal on the Enzo and the RPM's go all the way up in under one second without hesitating one bit. i saw a lotus elise (guy who works up some law offices in the richer part of town) turn the restaurants corner street maybe going 50 mph like cake... sure those exotics are beasts but they are also beasts on your money! and you better have a beater for the winter. but like most cases, people who own ferraris have all of their financial problems eliminated for the rest of their lives. the american dream.
S2000's are good with retractable tops, like i said the red ones look the best in my opinion. some guy at my school has a hooked up S2000 and it really cannot match up to any tiburon. great price on them too, sometimes $20,000 used! |

Tibchick's bf's S2000 looks nice. Looking at the stock pictures of an S2000 though, it reminds me of a Del Sol..just look:

Sometimes I think people forget who they are talking to... That said, the S 2000 and the Miata both suffer from ugly soft tops. Just as Alfa Romeo and MG did. When they are up, rearward vision is severely compromised. http://www.spidercenter.com/gallery2...ellyFiske2.jpg Not to toot the horn of my own spider. But back in 1967 when the first 124 spider rolled out of Pininfarina's plant.. they had one of the best convertable tops you could get. See the quarter windows behind the main side windows? Those are perminently attached to the convertable frame and come up and down the top, giving the car a light and airy look inside and out. Without them, inside would have been clausterphobic like on the alfa, mgb, miata, and even the S2000. Trust me, I realise that convertable are not for everyone, only a small segment of the car buying population will ever purchase one. I do think though that everyone should drive one at least once.. preferably for a week. I used to drive my spiders with the top down all the time unless it was raining or snowing. |

I don't mind convertibles but I prefer hard-tops.
For example, I would take a hard-top version of an F360 or F430 over it's soft-top equivalent any day of the week. I would take a Cayman over a Boxter, etc... Having the top down also messes up your hair. lol. So the CF hard-top would be pretty cool fing02.gif Back on topic, S2000s are sweet cars but take a bit to wind up IMO... Very cramped too (Can you tell that I'm jealous wink1.gif ). Seriously though, a mate of mine back in Perth had one when they first came out & he nearly totalled it about a week after he got it... Very snappy steering, he reckoned. |

^ if you're tall it'll mess up your hair but i've been in a convertible Solara and there's absolutely no turbulence in the cabin there... no matter how fast you're driving.
i hate the solaras though, big, ugly, unnecessary crap everywhere. but i guess it was meant for the average joe to think he's driving a good looking car... and there are a LOT of average joes here to buy those things. i just say if you crank out $30,000 to get a bug looking Solara, there's plenty of other better faster real cars you can shell out that money for instead... personally it all depends on where you live. in florida sure you will have soft top convertibles. some infact look really cool like the ferrari 355 spider!! --although i like the hardtop i wouldn't mind a soft top. a viper on the other hand, definitely a hardtop. http://www.deboeuf.at/kfz/ferrari/Ferrari_3_355_1.JPG |

^ I was sorta kidding about the hair... I know most decent soft-tops these days have wind deflectors, at least as an optional extra wink1.gif
