1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa Prototype | Gooding & Company | $16,390,000

This Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa prototype set a record for vehicles sold at public auction. The V12-powered vehicle has a rich history. It has competed at Nurburgring, Targa Florio, Laguna Seca, Le Mans and Sebring, among others, and has counted as drivers such legends as Phil Hill, Dan Gurney, Wolfgang Von Tripps, Luigi Musso and Bruce Kessler. But not all of its history is good. The car suffered major damage after it crashed horrifically at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1958, and was even set ablaze in an insurance scam in the 1960s.
