looking at the details...
It is VERY VW/Audiesq. The front grill is pure audi.. right down to the black painted bumper in the middle. All it needs is chrome trim around at and the linked rings in the centre. The profile of the cabin is very passat like as other's have noted. The trailing edge of the rear doors conspire with the seam between the body and the rear bumper to give the car a gen 5 golf look to the side rear. The fender rebates along the wheel well openings only add.
The non-functional hood scoops and vents are a joke. With that huge plastic tray over the engine, no air can come or go. That will mostly like change as the car goes from concept to reality
The interior.. the evo went from functional bland to over the top cheap hotrod with all the aluminum trim.
Overall.. we are looking at the death of the EVO. As stated before, Mitsu is looking to get out of the World rally scene. It is draining vital resources they do not have as a company now that Daimler Chrysler have killed their link to the three diamonds. This new Evo does not need to compete with the STI in the dirt anymore.. so the car does not need to be as functional as it once was...

Kinda GK Tiburonish with that little slit near the front fender.
I saw that too.
Also I didn't see any room for the intercooler on the front. I like the VIII much better
