If you could pull up a little bit more, we could have made a deal. I'd love to see someone on forums owning my tib, instead of some 15 year old kid....
I say once again that it's way too many miles for that car. Not just for the engine, but for entire car...

hehehe, Bryce, it seems like you really have made up your mind man. LOL
Everybody that has posted has mentioned something negative about buying it. Ask if it has the 7 bolt crank in it. If it does don't get it. HUGE PROBLEMS WILL ARISE. If it's got a 6 bolt that is at least a little better.
Take the thing for a rip and be hard on it. Drop the "this is a great car I want it soo bad, those BBQ black rims look soo great I can't wait to roll in this" attitude.
Take a serious look at the car man. That's $3,000 of YOUR money you're gonna give this person.

420A = naturally aspirated Eclipse motor. Basically the same as a Tiburon, although the Tiburon starts out almost 200 pounds lighter... heavier aftermarket for it though.
Seems like a decent deal... drive the car, and ask to see papers that the engine was replaced (reciepts, etc.). I don't see why he would replace the entire motor if just the pistons were damaged...
If he has no papers no deal. If he has papers that the motor was replaced recently, and it drives fine, then its not a bad deal. No reciepts on motor replacement, etc. then we run into problems.
He's obviously a tuner with a little knowledge of what the hell he's doing, so its pretty certain he's done his maintenence on time, well... at least with most tuners. But you can also be sure that its been takin to redline its fair share of times in its life.

yeah, your probally right silvertibbs, i really just want my car back, but thats impossible. i am keeping my eyes open for everything. but it has to be stick. the car use to be turboed and he blew the old motor. then he put the new one in it and is trying to sell it. any car i do get is only til i get out of college ot turn 21. then im getting a saab 9-3 aero.

HKC, I would never touch a car with that mileage... number one reason why I bought the Tib? 5k miles on it, compared to Preludes, etc. in the same price range with almost 80-100k miles more on it. So much mileage... god everything starts dying around that time, especially when you have no idea of the car's maintenence record. You run into that problem with this Eclipse as well.
BTW, he says the door handles or the locks don't work... how are you getting in? ROTFLOL, Hamhead just had a flashback to that Pimp My Ride episode with the Eclipse... lmao.gif lmao.gif lmao.gif Getting in through the hatch... nana.gif
