Okay so i got a 97 Tibby with 145k on it.

All exterior mods done to it.

M3 Mirrors
VS knockoff kit
New red/ ghost flame paintjob
Shark Spoiler
ADR DV-8 Rims
etc.

I can trade it straight up for a 97 eclipse

fwd
gs?
turbod
has 112k miles
THe motor is bad.
Spun a bearing on the crank.
Will get a used block with it to replace.

I am looking to drop a 4g63t motor in there.

or...

Sell my tib for 3k, pay off my loan, buy an rd2 and finish my turbo for that.

Eclipse would be alot faster than my tib turbod.

I really like the tibs becuz not everyone has one.

Then again, parts are more spendy, harder to find the stuff for, etc.

I just want to get your guys opinions on the whole ordeal.

If you guys have any good places to get a used 4g63t from, maybe some local dsm guys that could help, etc.

I know a few of you guys own them yourselfs.

Thanks

I suggest you sell your Tib for $4,500 or so to some high school kid.

I'll drive up to Minnesota, sell it to you free and clear for $14,500 and you'll have a kick-arse RD2 to start your turbo project on. It's a great car, barely over 100,000 miles but the tranny is only 40,000 miles old. Replaced timing belt, TPS, struts, tranny, radiator (13,000 miles old), and I'll even paint it whatever color you would like.

That's what I think you should do....

oh yeah, and I'll also throw in my stock wheels for free, and drive it up there for you. You get all I.C.E. and AUTHENTIC Veilside kit with half-off your replacement bumpers if you wreck it.

^Thats a sweet deal majiktib made..unless he was being sarcastic which I doubt.

97Tibby, dont get an eclipse. They are everywhere. An RD2 turboed can be faster then an N/A Eclipse. Im surprised you questioned that! , and if your going to compare a turboed tib to a turboed eclipse then thats silly, because youd have to compare how much was done to each car etc..A GST eclipse has 210hp stock. of course it would beat a N/A tib, but if you turboed your tib to 10-20 lbs its a different animal. Regarding finding parts for an RD..you can find parts for it, its just finding bolt ons is a little harder; but I know people on RD are trying to change that.

Sell your RD and get an RD2..majiktib is giving you a good deal too.

Ok whatever you want to do, first thing is stop putting money into a car your trying to get rid of. youve went through so many phases where you were sticking N/a, going turbo, buying 3 sets of rims, painting it, etc, and the whole time your saying how you dont want it, it doesnt make sense, if you want to throw your money away, ill give you my paypal. ill put it to good use

the faster car would be the one with more work put into it btw.

buy an RD2, turbo it.

trading for an eclipse that needs work done, engine swapped, and tuned isn't worth it.

sell it and buy an RD2 for cheap, and turbo that. You already know about the beta's and you have access to all the information you could ever need for it. Stick with what you know, turbo the RD2. That way you can hear the ricer kids saying, "A hyundai beat my honda??"

yeah.

After doing some searching on the new engine and stuff, changed my mind:|

I want to be different and not have a car most ppl do.

But from my experience with my rd1... i dont really like the tib 02.gif falling apart.. haha

I cannot find a good rd2 for a decent price with low miles.

Turbo Tibby, yeah baby!!!

Why do you want to get rid of RD1? you did a lot to your Tibby. You can get a new engine and build it.
