Default Max Mosley Resigns by pressure

Max Mosley Steps Down Octover 22, 2009

Former World Rally Champion and Legend Ari Vatanen has a chance of being elected as the new President of FIA as Max Mosley steps down. Ari Vatanen has claimed there needs to be change because of mismanagement and that the sports run by FIA need to be promoted more. (I agree completely, Max Mosley is a disease that needs to be swatted)

Apparently there is a verbal battle going on between Mosley and Vatanen. Mosley claims Vatanen will "lose badly." Next, Mosley claims if Vatenen is elected President, he will split up the FIA. Umm, how would you claim someone will lose badly and go on to say "if elected"...uuuuh.

So far 80% of Arab Countries favor and support Vatanen. Why is this important? Oil. Counties like UAE have no agricultural trade, only oil. They support and finance World Rallying. The Country of Abu Dhabi is financing the WRC as well as Ford World Rally Team. Just one example.

Now here's where it gets tricky. As we all know money and politics can be dirty, especially when there's a lot of it to go around. The FIA and F1 are full of it, while Rallying is not. Vatanen is questioning the election process because Mosley is determined to elect his successor, ex-Ferrari driver Jean Todt. He is accusing Mosley of manipilating the election process to favor Todt, punishable by all French courts. Mosley's henchmen launched foul threats to Vatanen's campaign team to which Vatanen declared he is violating "principle of equality among candidates."

If you know anything about motorsport, Ari Vatanen is rally God. If one name defines it, and one Country (Finland) defines it, it's his name. He's the nicest most passionate driver in the sport and has worked hard in politics after retiring.

Remember Mosley is the guy who was caught with 5 "Nazi" orgy hookers in a hotel room: NFSW http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQf9MmRE5L4 as well as caught tanning on expensive luxurious hotel rooftops on company time and money. His Son died last month of a heroine overdose. "Mosley was under huge pressure to resign amid disagreement over proposed budget cuts and concern about his private life." Mosley is also son to a Fascist leader. With his resignation, Mosley was quoted, "There will be one F1 championship but the objective is to get back to the spending levels of the early 90s within two years. I will not be up for re-election, now we have peace.'

Vatanen would be the first non-French, non-British President. Let us hope he wins tomorrow.

I knew you'd reply! =) This is the *BIGGEST* news in recent racing history (20 year period).

If Vatanen gets elected, he will bring peace and promotion. If Todt gets elected, he will continue tearing the racing world (especially F1) apart like it has now.

When you have 8 F1 teams threatening to leave the sport, and other teams staying in for cheating because they're needed, you know there is turmoil.

***UPDATE***

Sad news today. Vatanen loses. Unfortunately this is an example of today's politics. One committed man true man fighting for passion and common sense against a strong current of angry, corrupt organizers that have taken over like a disease. We know this all too well. It's no wonder he didn't get the vote. This will mean there will be a divide in the FIA yet again. There's no way Vatanen should have lost after Mosley's stints. Major let down.
