Default Lexus is going to have 10-speed transmission

They are working on a production version of the 10-speed unit (to be accurate, it is Aisin that working on it – Aisin is a subcompany of the Toyota group), and it will be debuted in the 2017 Lexus LS flagship sedan and the new SC coupe (yes, Lexus does not give up the SC nameplate). This will be the world’s first production 10-speed automatic transmission.

It looks like besides the hp competition, there is another competition in # of speeds in transmission is taking place now.

it's probably going to upshift asap when driving or the other 5 gears will never be used around city driving.

No matter how many speeds, or just how advanced the transmission logic, or even if it's DCT magic

Automatic transmissions are still reactive devices.

Just learn to use a clutch, 16 year old french girls can do it, it's not a big deal

^this, but some Sport modes are pretty decent. And compared to the way some of us drive, you could even save gas with a modern automatic.
