So I have a 00 Jetta VR6, and my brother wants to get a 01 Eclipse GT (Probably a GT-S) or a 99 Prelude, now I'm wondering if you guys know which car would be faster.
00 Jetta VR6 12v
01 Eclipse GT
01 Eclipse GT-S
99 Prelude
All of them are 5spd.
Will I be able to beat him (track).
I know there is a lot of factors that can determine who wins, but lets keep it simple.
Thanks.

why does your brother want a car just cuz its a bit faster than the others and not the best car out of the bunch?
the jetta VR6 has like 174 hp and does a 1/4 mile of like 15.8.
the prelude does the 1/4 mile in 15.4
the eclipse does the 1/4 mile in 15.4
they are all slow cars, if hes looking for a quicker cheap car, why not a 97-99 GSX with a 16g turbo. will be a second faster then any of the 'options' look better, and probably be cheaper.

Yea I have to 2nd the above post.
Absolutly no reason to even consider any of those when there are 2g eclipses out there. GSX will be awd and turbo'd.
Of the 3 listed though, I'd prolly go w the VW only because I can't imagine the prelude would do too well on auto-x being fwd and...well, a honda.
Again, on auto-x, no reason to even think about that breed of eclipse.
I'm not trying to go off topic by suggesting other cars than you've listed and all but there are numerous ones that, in my opinion, both handle and look way better including the nissan and mitsu lines. I say DSM all the way with this topic here.

Thanks guys...we just wanted to know, its not like my brother wants a faster car, we were just wondering, he likes the Eclipse and thats the only reason for buying the car smile.gif ... now for a turbo Eclipse, that would be sweet, but we don't know anything about turbos and we rather stay away from those cars cool.gif , we are not racing all the time, so we don't need a turbo car lmao.gif , anyways, thanks fing02.gif

LOL lmao.gif you don't have to know a thing about a turbo to own a turbo car.... a 97-99 AWD GSX would just be a much better car in every aspect.. better handling, better power, better looks, cheaper, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.
