hey guys some of you might have seen my tiburon but i don't think anybody here has seen my long term project i like to call "project i probably won't be driven for another 7 years" . It's my '81 rx7 that i bought almost 2 years ago and haven't driven it on the road since the day it was purchased. It needs some work, somethings i can handle pretty much alone some i'll be getting help with.
Enough jibbering on here are the pics:

Since I bought the car iI really haven't done much to it. I've installed a cd player I had kicking around as well as a Razo weighted shift knob(in pink cuz I'm cool like that). I"ve also gutted the interior and will be ripping out all the stock sound deadening. I need to weld the floor up in front of the front seats as well as redo the rockers and repair a hole on the front ds strut tower.
As of right now the plans are a ford 5.0l with a 75shot of the funny stuff. Along with all new suspension bushing and a set of coilovers. Can't wait to start tearing it down to replace the bushings as I'll be sand blasting all parts and powder coating them. I plan on getting a tig welder in the summer i hope just an ebay one,one of my buddies in my class(i'm going to school for welding) had one and it worked great just no numbers on the dials so you just have to feel it. Once i get that i'll be putting in a cage and fixing that front strut tower as well as.

I love rotary engine, would never switch for anything else. Love the sound and the feel of them.

I don't find it rebuilds often(from what i seen though), and rebuilds are fast, can strip the engine and put it together with all new parts in a matter of days.
i agree though, 12a don't make the fastest engines, that why i am trying to figure out which engine i will put into my fb this summer if i ever got around to it, too many cars that need work 02.gif

my original plan was a 13bt.....but after reading the amount of money just to get the motor, get the motor ready, get the motor in and get the motor running....5.0l swap is sooo much cheaper, especially since the father in lawish has a 5.0 ho,brand new rebuilt drop in,never installed so it has 0kms on the rebuild and $700 worth of head work. makes more sense for my 24 year old ass,in school with a 9 month old to take that route haha.

agreed, much easier to get a 5.0 then a 13bt.

My case is diff though, i just finished rebuilding a 13b for my fc, just to buy another fc for 400$ with 2 motors, one was blown(according to owner, but when i torn it apart it's was like new) and one 13bt with all the goodies. And have another 13b that is lying around. So 3 motors, 1 car that needs a motor, so i figured why not upgrade on of my fbs tongue.gif

Are you going to buy a kit from grannys? or do it yourself? What tranny you going to use? Gona keep the rear-end?

i was thinking of going with the granny kit,but i heard that on v8rx7 somebody put u all the dimensions of the motor mount i haven't been looking very hard for it yet,but if i can find it i'm just going to make it myself. i weld so it'd be no problem to take it to school or work and make it up. as for the tranny i think i'm going with the t5, so far anyway haha. and i'm going to keep the stock rear for a bit unless i can find a gsl se rear end,but also i want to go 5 lug so i'm thinking i may find a 8.8 rear from a grand marquis or crown vic and get it shortened. i also have to find rusted or busted mustang for a parts car, because i want the ecu and wiring harness,so i may just use what i get from that.
