Okay... back in high school it was the 'cool' thing if you had a mini truck in a car club or had a customized Honda CRX.
I remember a friend who had a late-80s (1988?) CRX and he boasted the fact that he got 40-55 MPG. Now... Honda is supposedly bringing back the CRX in the form of the CR-Z. AND... it's a hybrid. So what does this 76hp beast get? ONLY 31-38 MPG?!?! Where are the conspiracy theorist?!? I know weight has a lot to do with it, with the CR-X being only 1,800 lbs. and this CR-Z at 2,600 (a 45% increase)... but do you think stripping 400 lbs. off this car will get you even close to 50mpg?

Wow fail. The body is ok but the main attraction these days is the MPG on little baby cars. Somebody needs to stooge slap Honda for this.

I was just talking with my step dad the other day who used to drive a 1980 Honda CVCC (before they were Civics), he claimed he consistently got 40 mpg. And didn't Geo Metros get like 50 mpg? Granted those were only 3 cylinders, but it was over 10 years ago! What happened to technology?
I personally always thought that modded/kitted (not riced) CRX's looked kinda cool, and with a simple motor swap or something they were insanely fast, but I think that CRZ is kinda ugly...

it would be cool to see the real CRX come back. a little Honda Hot rod, maybe with a k20 but i dont know how cost efficient that would be for honda in this market. but to me this CR-Z hybrid looks like a failure, it seems to me like a more modern Insight, and i dont know how well those did but you dont see many of them around. we'll just have to wait and see

the CRX was 1,800 pounds. The new CR-Z is 2,600. (rounded)
This new CR-Z looks like an Insight without the skirts over the rear wheel.

This makes me laugh because my neighbor has an early 90's CRX with a "body kit" (missing his front bumper and about 30% of the paint on the car), without an engine swap, and with a tin can exhaust always tried to race me in my tiburon. He still whips past my house everyday at about 4500RPM, and every day he still sounds like a chainsaw with a losse chain.
