Default DETROIT AUTO SHOW: Mercury reveals Messenger concept

Mercury Messenger concept debuts in North America

Mercury unveiled the Messenger sport coupe concept at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The Messenger, intended as the "first expression of Mercury's new design DNA" is a high-performance two-seat sports coupe. The long hood houses a powerful 4.6L modular V8. The aggressive stance is highlighted by "turbine-style" 19-inch wheels in front and 20-inch wheels in back. Stacked headlights and sequential taillights give the Messenger a unique appearance at both ends.

A teardrop-effect greenhouse gives way cockpit-style driving environment. The instrument panel features "primary focus zones" to provide at-a-glance information. Switchgear is minimized to reduce distraction.

Plans to build the Messenger have not been announced; however, Mercury does plan to introduce four new production vehicles over the next four years.

is this the beginning of the new Cougar? I wonder. Its not an overall bad design. It just needs a bit of cleaning up...and smaller more attractive wheels.
