Mazda shows the new Washu six-seater concept at the 2003 NAIAS

Mazda Motor Corporation has unveiled the Washu six-seater concept vehicle at the Detroit Auto Show.
Details are as follows:

Engine:
- a 3.5 liter V6 engine producing an estimated 242 bhp at 6,500 rpm with a torque of 204 lb.ft at 3,500 rpm, mated to six speed automatic transmission.

Dimensions:
- length: 4,830 mm
- width: 1,850 mm
- height: 1,570 mm
- wheelbase: 3,200 mm

Features include:
- seating for six in 2+2+2 arrangement
- wide opening front doors and rear doors which open outwards and slide
- adjustable and stowable instrument panel
- steer by wire
- adjustable pedals
- run-flat tires
- stability control
- steering wheel mounted gear selectors
- LCD Dimmer glass in roof can be changed from transparent to non transparent
- multi-information display with trackpad incorporating telematics, satellite navigation, climate and audio controls
- side and rear mounted video cameras with display monitors mounted on instrument panel cowl
- climate control ceiling vents utilising blowers mounted into the body structure replace conventional ducts and fan blowers
- rear seat DVD system including 15" roof mounted screen and surround sound
- LED headllight with Automatic Focusing System (AFS) linked to steering mechanism
- electronic park brake activated by pressing brake pedal when vehicle is at rest and the brake is released when the accelerator pedal is pressed. A 'Snow Mode' which prevents park brake from freezing in low temperature environments.
