So my neighbor and I had quite an interesting talk today. He was really uplifting when talking about the RDTiburons. We both agreed that it has cheap speed, for the price I paid ($6500)
His WRX is a 4-speed electronically-controlled automatic. It is bone stock, however he asked me about the mods I have done. I told him that performance-wise it only has cold air intake, which will soon be accompanied with OBX racing headers.
He told me that I definitely have a chance against him at the track. His 0-60 times range from 8-9 seconds, with a good launch!! That's AWD and 227 hp at the crank!
Today was the first time he's driven in the Tib with me, and although we smirked at how slow it was off the line, he noted that it really picks up after a while, and can definitely pull through a lot of cars with a roll/street start.
Although he prefers the roar of the WRXs engine, he said the Tib produced a very throaty performance tone for a 4cyl.. headbang.gif

the WRX is also putting that 227hp to the ground via all four wheels. Not only is it forced to put it through the slushbox, but it has the drag of the rear differential as well as the rest of the drivetrain, actually something of a hinderace when you have great traction and not a lot of power.
If it had been the STi, there would have been no contest.

Lol the WRX should be good for a mid 6 to 60 MPH. My neighbor said that time for the automatic is hard to acheive, and sometimes will get a low 7. His averages are from 7-9 seconds. Mine are from 9-11 sec.
Autos aren't always as consistent as you think.
My complete setup for the summer will hopefully be I/H/P. That should drop me down to a low-mid 8 second to sixty.. which is not bad considering it's an auto.
I'm loving the cheap speed our Tiburons have. Of course I never said I would BEAT the WRX, but I have a chance if I'm modded slightly. Add a tranny cooler, and a high-stall torque converter and I'm in business against 5spds.

Hell yeah, The STi's are monsters, they run 0-60mph (or 0-100Km) 4.9sec, or there abouts, depending on where u get ur info from:
Sti Specs
But I do beleive that coz it was auto, its not as powerful as a manual would be.
Those WRX's are nice cars though, even if they arnt Sti's. They have a very unique beast/throaty sound to em that when you hear it you know its a Rex.
What year is his WRX?

Either way, as Mad said, it has to run the power thru the auto and AWD... and auto WRX's cant launch at high RPM like the manuals to get those nifty 60' times.
Subaru's auto trannies are very good though. Mom's Subaru Forester = 125,000 miles with no slipping or jerking at all when taken to redline. She hasn't had to take it in to the dealer for anything going wrong except for a malfunctioning knock sensor 5,000 miles ago.
Subaru is the ownage.

From a roll, a fully built N/A Tib probably could run easily with a stock WRX. AWD is horrible once it gets past the first 80' or so from the launch. After that FWD pulls fairly hard on it.
