LOS ANGELES AUTO SHOW: Mitsubishi unveils Lancer Evolution VIII
Lancer Evolution VIII to go on sale in United States in early 2003
Released January 2, 2003, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation in conjunction with Mitsubishi Motors North America has unveiled the Lancer Evolution VIII sedan (US Market version) at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The Evolution VIII will go on sale in the US in early 2003. A sales volume of 6,500 units is expected within the first year after launch.
Details of the Lancer Evolution VIII follow:
Engine:
- a 2.0 liter four cylinder turbocharged engine producing 271 bhp/6,500 rpm and torque of 273 lb.ft/3,500 rpm mated to five speed manual transmission.
Dimensions:
- length: 4,535 mm
- width: 1,770 mm
- height: 1,450 mm
- wheelbase: 2,625 mm
Standard equipment includes:
- full time all wheel drive
- rear limited slip differential
- four ventilated disc brakes with ABS and EBD
- carbon fiber re-inforced plastic rear spoiler
- alloy wheels
- leather trim
- Momo steering wheel
- Recaro sports seats
It appears to be missing the front Differential and the Center Differental sad.gif It also appears that the differential is NOT computer controled, but rather a "dumb" mechanical unit. eek! frown

They never really fully bring the good stuff to the states all at once. Look at the scooby it is taking them to this year to bring the STI version here. frown

Looking into somehow getting this on my hand..
Since we have program for Lan Evo series, we have plan to co-op with local Mistubishi tuner in order to get our names out to known magazine.
REAL will give further notice for exact shoot out date for Lan Evo.
I heard they are going on sale on Feb. 2003 and sell 4,500 units limited. I hope they sell more, so the price will not go up (premium).
Compare to Evo VII, it only differs from front and rear bumper. I hope headlight is same as EVO VII.
I will be going to L.A. Autoshow on 8th with 4G63 specialist.
