I'm going to move this to the Other Vehicles forum

Wow..looks like the Germans are starting to lag a bit on reliability.

not so much lag on reliability.. unlike the japanese and especially the americans.. the Euros are on the cutting edge of what their car's electrical and computer systems can do.

I also think those owners are more vocal about their problems. I drove for almost a full year without intermittant wipers.. I just made due until I could fix them. If I spent that kind of money for a car.. I would have been much more upset if they had broken.

My old boss, now business partner.. the lamps in his BMW kept burning out... but he always took it to the dealer to get them replaced. It is a well known fact that stock BMW lamps have a short lifespan.. yet he could not be bothered to replace them himself and end the problem forever.

A reason why the owner might be more vocal cause the parts are so damn expensive compared to other cars. I had a 3 series BMW and I couldn't believe how expensive it was to replace the most common of parts.

I agree they perform well but are very unreliable. my best friend has a newer one and it has gone through one hell of a lot of work
