1. How did you get into the Hyundai scene?
I got into the Hyundai scene by a fluke. I orginally was looking to purchase a Corvette when I had a friend show me a demo of the new Hyundai Genesis back in late 2008. Before
that I
didn’t know much about these vehicles. I alway respected Hyundai’s. I’ve had lots of friends swear by them over the years. Anyway I saw this vehicle, asked the dealer what were
the
chances of a fat guy fitting into one of these cars, he threw me the keys, I sat in it and that was all she wrote. I set up the deal pretty well then and there. I had one of the
very
firts GT models ordered in Canada so the wait was extremely long, but after 6 months of waiting I was a proud owner of a Genesis 2.0L GT. I was told that I had 160000km or 8 years
of
warranty on the car, but actually I think that was up with in 16km and 10 minutes. I had the car stripped down and put back together the very same day I purchased it.
2. What has been your best accomplishment with the car?
Hmmm This is a tough one. I’ve won numerous awards for this car over the last 3 seasons of me owning it. But I’d have to say my biggest accomplishment to date is founding the
Ontario
Genesis Club (www.Ontariogenesisclub.ca). We’re up to almost 300 members and growing everyday. Last year we proved
ourselves
when we organized an event at the dealership I purchased my vehicle from, Cambridge Hyundai and we called it Hyundai Fundai. We had an estimated 65 Genesis Coupe owners come out.
One
member came all the way from the Maritimes over a 20 hour drive I believe. In total we had close to 75 Hyundai’s show up. This year we’re doing the event again on July 30th and
I’m hoping
to put a number down for all the Hyundai clubs to beat for the Largest Hyundai meet ever hosted.
3. Where do you see yourself in the immediate and long term future with the car?
Immediatly….not too far. I’ve done a lot to this vehicle in the last couple years. It’s one of the highest modified Gen Coupes in North America. Long term I’m looking on expanding
the
vehicle and pushing it’s limits not only with style but performance as well. People who know me know that I don’t usually tell what my next modifications are going to be, I give
hints and
I say what I want eventually, just not when it’s going to actually happen!
4. Thanks and Props:
First and foremost Special thanks to my Family and friends for helping me along the way with this build. Many late late night have been spent prepping this car and getting it read
for
upcoming events. Huge thanks to my father’s beer fridge as well….fun stuff happens when beer is involved. And thank you to Hyundai Aftermarket.org for
giving
me this feature.
Huge thanks to my crew and club affiliates:
