Unless you beat the snot out of your car and use some junky Fram filter, quit throwing your money away on synthetic. Either extend your oil change intervals or quit buying synthetic. |
meh i run mobil and change it every 3500 myself
oil is cheap insurance |

oil is cheap insurance</div> i use ams on the summer car religiously.. switched over to it last year, combined with ams oil filtre, and i change my oil about every 10-15,000 miles, this is with daily driving, and track days every weekend, and im not exactly very easy on the car on most daily commutes, and the oil holds up just great. plus jesus christ.. ever since i switched over, the car idles so rediculously quiet, that sometimes coming off the highway and coming to a stop.. i cant even tell the motor's running. expensive sh*t... but worth every penny IMHO converting the x3 to amsoil soon aswell |
i use an australian made synthetic oil Nulon in my x3
change at 5000-7000kays even at 3000kays the oil smells and looks bad partly hotter climate but majority of that is my driving style smile.gif plus...like somebody said....oil = cheap insurance (costs me $60 AUD an oil change) |
ive used amsoil in my last 3 cars and am currantly using in both my wifes 08 accent and my 07 elantra both are in thier 11000miles after the oil change, looked at the oil and it isnt even close to dark yet, plus the added benifit of 3 more miles to the gallon over mobil 1 that was in the cars when we bought them, dont forget that they are the only ones offering a real garruntee, valvolines is not unless u put in befor 75000m and register it, but u still have to change every 3000 with it,it looks like crap after 1000m, i know i used to work there.

The oil will last 25k... but what about the filters? smile.gif

I use Amsoil in everything I drive. I run the Amsoil 15w40 diesel oil in my Dodge cummins diesel, and use an Amsoil filter in it, and change it every 25k miles. I have done many oil analysis', and I COULD go longer on the oil if I wanted to, as it comes back as acceptable to continue use, but I change it anyway, since it's what Amsoil recommends.
I used Amsoil XL on my old accent, with 180k miles on it, and changed it every 10k miles or every 6 months, whichever came first, and everything worked out great with that car, until it met it's demise in a rock slide :(. In my new Elantra, I will be switching to Amsoil at the next oil change. I just bought this elantra 2 weeks ago, so I haven't changed the oil that's in it yet. I am a believer, but I'd never force it down anyone's throats. Run what you want, and I'll run what I'm happy with :) Scott EDIT: Just realized this was a pretty old thread, but thought I'd throw in my .02cents.. |
I use VR1 in the Built Tib! It is built fairly "LOOSE" so i have to run a thicker oil! But I beat the piss out of and I change the Oil in this car every 3 Months or 2k Miles as im boosted and beat this car, so there are many heating cycles and it breaks down oil alot faster being feed through a cooked up turbo!
