Default RD1 Tib from the Philippines

hi all,

new guy here. just wanted to post pix of my gen1 tib from the philippines.

My more detailed modder's diary is here if you're interested.

anyway, here are some of the nicer pix i have of the car.

this is how i first got him:

OBOLK.jpg

5MEnJ.jpg

paint was pretty faded, exterior parts were looking real old. wheels were stock.

did some mods and a new paint job and this is how he currently stands

LWS7X.jpg

here are some better pix from my first "real" long drive with the tib.

bPPoW.jpg

that's my girl right there

a night shot.

P7vVq.jpg

had the hood, roof and trunk CF wrapped for a car show. i won 1st runner up for best hyundai! 1st placer was a team-mate of mine. he had a straight-up pimp hyundai starex. pity i wasnt able to get better pix.

rLpyvl.jpg

finally some engine shots. it's only this year that i've concentrated on performance mods.

first mods were:

1) Pivot volt stabilizer

2) HKS generic grounding kit

3) K&N SRI customized by Speedlab

4) D1Spec Oil Catch Can (more for aesthetics to be honest)

D15Idl.jpg

0fCdVl.jpg

then i got the 4-2-1 headers from hotpipes just last weekend. really happy with this purchase

VoHadl.jpg

boIchl.jpg

i'll try to get better pix of my CF wrapped hood, roof and trunk.

mods on the way are:

1) BBK from Runstop

2) Custom steel-braided brake lines

3) Ultra Racing front strut bar

and finally, piggyback ECU by UNICHIP.

will post more pix when i get the time.

oh yeah, shout out to all UKHCC guys

how about that lol funny meeting you here well, it's a rare car here in the PI. it was sold for more than the 2010 Genesis during the RD1's time in the philippines so it didnt sell very well. right now, the RD1 is pretty cheap. i'm actually the 3rd owner of this tib so i got it pretty beat up but only had 85K KM on it when i got it.

it's only now that it's seen performance and aesthetic mods

Great looking car! You should nominate yourself for Featured Ride in a couple of weeks, when we start it back up here.

The only thing I would say, is lower the car. Other than that...you did an amazing job with it! Keep up the great work!

i actually have plans of lowering it.. problem is that my wheels aren't exactly the correct fit for the tib. i have spacers in them so that those 4 pesky nuts sit properly on the wheel. anyway, i tried getting H&R sport springs that would give me a 1.5 inch drop. unfortunately, the shop advised me to downsize on the wheels to 16s to avoid rubbing the fenders.. so i was like, meh.. bugger that..

i'll probably get around to getting lowering springs once i sort out the wheels first. those captive rotor things are annoying, the spacers were just a workaround

thanks for the tip visionz! i'll be sure to check out the featured car competition soonish

Those rims do look really big on the car? What size are they? Not sure if I like the carbon fiber stickers, but they do fit in with the car since you did the hood, roof, and hatch. It all flows properly. Overall, I like the car. Whats the name of the color you picked out for it? I like it.

HEY i know you! hahaha. yeah i love the shiney new paint. i remember you posting it up when you just had it done. beautiful color choice. you had some pictures next to a highway, with your girlfriend. she's very hot by the way!

about the captive hubs, you have to swap the hub assemblies to 2000+ non-captive hubs if you want new rims. but i really like the spacers.

downsize on the wheels to 16s to avoid rubbing the fenders..

i'm dealing with the same problem of fender rubbing. it's annoying and embarrassing when i turn and the plastic flaps against the tire.

thanks for the pics!

hi guys, thanks for the positive feedback! means a lot to me

cobaltibby, it's a custom mix but it's actually Gun Metal Gray. you can't really see it in the pix but it has coarse glitters in it. here's the effect it has when it's properly waxed and when the lighting is good.. you can see the effect in the fender part.

the car is currently sitting on 17" rims with 205/40 tires. i think it's a perfect fit coz it fills the arches really well. i still really would want to drop it at it's current size though.

KitCoupe, thanks man! looks like my GF has some fans lol i would have the same rubbing problem as you if i had lowered my car. good thing the guys over at the garage stopped me haha. How many inches do you have your car lowered?

i'll try to post pix of the interiors and ICE later on if i can.
