Whats better - equal length manifold or log style?
Whats a better manifold to go with....equal length or log style? Are there major benefits to going with one over the other?

For some things, Google is good.
Equal length vs. log, turbo position is the same: http://www.sr20forum.com/turbo/84358-equal...html#post745652 Tubular vs. log, not same turbo position, different engine http://www.full-race.com/articles/1.8T_tur...est_writeup.pdf log: spools faster by a tiny bit tubular: more power by a lot |
doesnt really matter until you start making lots of power
logs are cheaper and generally stronger/easier to maintain equal length is nice and all but when your spending 3x as much as you would for a log, if you only plan on putting down 300hp its not worth it that money is better spent on other items (fuel for example) |
Well, I've had both. My first one was an Alpine log manifold. After I port matched the Alpine manifold with the head and turbine inlet it seemed to work VERY well. I did over 300whp with the Alpine manifold no problem.
Now I'm running a Maintec Equal Length Race manifold. As far as looks go, there's no comparison. Its beautiful. As far as flow goes I can't really tell the difference. |
