Hello, I am almost done with a project. It is a 99 Tibby with a fully built beta one and 8.5/1 compression. Plus a garrett t3/t4 turbo. I am almost to the point were it is time to worry about what oil I will be running. I have heard alot of good stuff from a local shop that will be tunning my car, it is Brad Penn Racing Oil 10W40, Yet, there the only people I have heard talk about it. Before the build I was using mobile1. Does anybody have a motor oil in mind that may work best to protect my engine but let me put the most power I can to the ground! Thanks for the help in advanced!

I have been running Royal Purple for a couple of years now with good results. Sure a DIY oil change is $50+, but I've been happy with it. Just be sure to run either an OEM oil filter, a WIX oil filter, or another filter recommended for use on a Hyundai. Most filters give you trouble with ticking and oil starvation in a Hyundai.

I will be running a Race Filter made by k&n. I do like the royal purple suggestion. I will check them out and see what i can come up with as for horespower numbers.

The K&N filter is not restrictive enough to maintain good oil pressure unless you're running a higher flow oil pump, in that case it should be fine.

I dont know how high of flow I will have but my sump has been bored out and should flow with more pressure. Yet, it may help or may make it worse. This is another one of the first time things i have done.... So basically you are saying that you need resistance, because i thought i could create less resistance keeping the motor further more lubricated, which would help keep the motor cool, because the oil would not be prown to stay in the same place for a a period of time. Plus i was thinking the more flow the better because of the turbo i will be running. Which is an oil cooled/lubricated turbo. So what am i suppose to do? I think i just confused my self? So okay let me ask you this, if it were your car, and you had just put 8500dollars in to the motor and turbo kit alone. what Oil and Filter would you want to run?

Yes, as odd as it sounds even stock Hyundais will often tick if a filter that flows too much oil is installed. If you have HLA's it makes the problem even worse because if you starve the HLA's for oil they'll compress and stop lifting your valves properly. I had that happen to my Accent while autox'ing and nearly had to replace my engine.
I would suggest running OEM or Wix filters. If it was me, Wix. The Wix is slightly larger, but the OEM is actually great quality. IF other people have been running a filter with good results it's probably fine. The K&N is specifically one that has given people problems. I would run an external oil cooler. I would probably also add an Accusump just in case oil pressure drops below where you want it. An Accusump is my next mod. It's pretty easy to starve the oil pickup with a Hyundai when you add some G-Force to the equation.
As far as oil goes, I would run name brand synthetic. I prefer Royal Purple or Amsoil, but really any tier 1 synthetic or race synthetic should be fine.

Yea, i know personally about the oil pick up deal, lol that is why i bored the sump, bu the pump is stock so i will be going with the wix filter. i just ordered 5 of them from jegs, it was cheaper to order them as a set, and i will be running royal purple! Thanks to all who helped! I already have a huge oil coller that is mounted in the fender right in the wheel well on the pasengers side!
