Default Unichip Schematic

All,

I know several of you have the Apline turbo kit. I just got mine in the mail yesterday. I was wondering if any of you have a Unichip wire schematic? The instructions that came with the kit are spotty at best and they don't pertain to my '03 2.0l Tibby. The ECU pinouts are different on my car. What I need to know is what/where the Unichip wires need to go to on the ECU harness. Like RPM signal, TPS signal, 02 sensor signals, MAP/MAF signal and so forth.

I need help!!! Please!!!! frown

I'll upload them tonight.
I'll also e-mail you a copy of them. Make sure the e-mail address in your profile on the fourm is accurate.

use www.hmaservice.com to get the ECU pinout's for your 03 2.0L

I'll be real honest here. I'm supprised Alpine is selling this to you.
#1. The Beta2 engine has smaller injectors, that means a special Unichip ECU map needs to be made. As far as I know, Alpine has not made one, meaning this kit will not fuel right.
#2. Your Beta2 is MAP based not MAF based. If they sent you the MAF based ECU, it won't fuel right.
#3. You have a returnless fuel system. It's going to take quite a bit of modification to get the fuel pressure regulatator and fuel return line installed.

I'll try to contact Steve at Alpine to get to the bottom of this.

Random,

Crap!! I didn't even think about having a 'returnless' fuel system. Steve assured me that this kit would work with my Tibby.
He also said the Unichip MAP would work with the MAP or MAF straight from Alpine. He said it was a very basic map, but one that would get me up and running...crap!!
I wasn't sure about the injectors becuase I've seen conflicting information. Wouldn't the fifth injector make up for the difference?
I'm glad I didn't start the install yet. I'll try to get a hold of Steve too. Maybe between the both of us we can get this straightened out.

Thanks for your help Random. I don't want to be another casualty of misinformation. frown

The 5th injector is setup to add fuel as needed, but it is calibrated for 245cc injectors that came with the Beta1. The beta2 comes with 185cc injectors. The 5th injector is going to need to work harder/spray more to make up for the missing 60cc from each injector (240cc total for 4).

The MAP/MAF difference is subtle, but needs to be accounted for.

In regards to the returnless fuel system...I dunno WHAT is going to be done about that.

Random,

You wouldn't happen to have any injectors lyin around that you want to get rid of do ya? I saw a post somewhere from Batlord that he might have some too... frown

batlords are 350cc and they won't fit.
Mine would be 245cc, and they won't fit either.

The beta2 injectors have a different size electrical connection, and a differnt sized seat in the intake manifold.

Besides, your stock ECU is calibrated for 185cc Injectors. Replacing the stock injectors with 245cc injectors (or 350cc) means you would overfuel 99% of the time, and only fuel properly under boost.

This is NOT the solution.

Thanks for the heads up Random. I heard back from Steve. He said he's gonna talk to the owner when he arrives from Africa today and see what can be done.
I appreciate all the help this site has given me. I grew up with a n/a piston in my mouth but all this new fangled fuel injection and forced induction has got me turned upside down...

I also spoke with Steve. He'll take care of you, and send you whatever parts you need to make it work, or give you a refund until they develop a Beta2 kit.

Thanks again Random,

I'll wait for Steve to give me a call. I don't want to return the kit as it was the best price per performance kit out there. I hope Steve can have one of the techs figure out what I need to get the job done correctly. Until then it will just take up space on my garage floor I guess... frown

Even if you do have to return the kit, eventualy, Alpine will create a kit made for the Beta2. You can then purchase that kit, have no fear. They plan on making a beta2 kit, or a kit that is "compatable" with both Beta1's and Beta2's.

The 2.0L Turbocharger is quite possibly their most popular product.
